06-09-08 Black Moon on The Rhythm The Rebel in the IJsselhallen Zwolle

The 6th was a busy day for Live & Legendary; there was Rahzel on the Valifest in Amsterdam and Black Moon & Mr Lif, Akrobatik & Smiley Rays on The Rhythm The Rebel in Zwolle. Early in the morning I met Rahzel and DJ JS 1 on the airport and supported them to the hotel. Then back to my hometown Zwolle to support Black Moon to the festival. They had to perform around 16:45. There was some little stress because Mr Lif with his group had a delay in Germany due to a traffic jam and it wasn't sure if they gonna make their shomtime around 22:30. We decided to change the schedule; a performer on the little stage went to the main stage and Mr Lif and Akrobatik performed later on the little stage for a energic show. A lot of people who where on there way out stayed to see them perform. Good show!!!

The first weekend of april was a huge record fair hold in Utrecht. Live & Legendary arranged George duBose as a special guest on the fair. It was a nice selling weekend for George. And the organisation arranged a stand for George for the autumnfair. A shoutout for the organisation ARC for their good take-cares.

12-01-08 Donald D

2008 started this year in a club in Amstelveen P60 with the Rhyme Syndicate Sniper Donald D and local acts. The party was organised by Bumrush Radio and I (L&L) booked Donald. First we did a radioshow on LIJN 5 Classic Materials. Later that day we had dinner with friends and chillin with the DVD "Rock The Bells". The party in P60 was not wellcrowded but nevertheless a good vibration. A good party with breakers, battles, rhymes and beats. Donald D performed more than one hour! Thanx to Automatic, Casper, Dennis (Bumrush), the club and Donald.

This performance was cancelled because of the show of Snoop Dog. But Live & Legendary did meet Kane together with George DuBose (the Cold Chillin photographer), who spend a weekend in Amsterdam. It was a nice hook-up.

Thursdayevening the 29th of March i visited the concert of Snoop Dogg in the Milky Way. Sold out in 1 day. Because L&L had a appointment with George DuBose and Big Daddy Kane and we had some time left; we went to the hotel where Snoop stayed. There we hooked-up with some guys of the Dogg Pound. The show of Snoop was dope, they played enough classic stuff, nice lapdancers, 1 minus: to crowdy.

Like I said; heredown the review of the performance of Schoolly D in Area 51 in Eindhoven. The location was pretty cool, undergroud terrain full of graffiti. Good audience, everybody was in for a party with Schoolly D. Even Schoolly himself, i think he was the most relaxed guy i ever met.

It was a short performance but with all the bangers: PSK, Gucci and so on. Schoolly thanx, till next time, which hopefully will come. Also thanx to Area 51 for good takecare and the possibility and the fine location. The crowd thanx for your enthousiasm.

17-03-07 Just Ice and T-La Rock

Pictures: ® Otto van den Toorn

Finally, after 19 years of waiting; 2 heavyweight of hiphop were in Amsterdam to perform in the weekend of 16-18th of March (brought by L&L). There performed in the Milkyway for one exclusive show: T La Rock and Just Ice. Especially Just Ice; what a beast! On arrival in Amsterdam i spend 2 hours with Just Ice in a coffeeshop; smoking and drinking. Then visiting A'dam-center with the quiet and friendly T La Rock and of course taking a walk by the Red Light District. The fridaynight we went to the Dutch RadioStation for a interview on 3voor12XL. Only T La Rock went with L&L and a couple of friends. It was a great night.

The day after: live on stage Just Ice and T La Rock. First a soundcheck and this suspects a dope night. Hard, raw, pure, oldschool, back to the 80's! The club was packed and T La Rock started on time. On the wheels DJ Automatic, know from Moonrunners and Funky Tribe. And he didn't lost his skillz, without preparation he and T La rocked the show. Short but legendary. Then it was time for the Original Gangsta Justice of Dread. We went on a tour of disco, reggae and then the bangers which made Justice famous. The merchandise was sold out. The night was a night full of weet, red light and liquor.

The next morning (sunday) the dream was over. Back to Schiphol. I want to give some shout-outs: i wanna thank T La Rock, Just Ice, DJ Fred One, DJ Automatic, Milkyway (Edwin & Sander), Casper, Arjan and the audience. Peace!

03-02-07 Visit to photograph studio of Cold Chillin

Last saturday the 3rd of February I traveled to Cologne where George DuBose - photographer of the wellknown hiphoplabel Cold Chillin - has his photograph studio. On invitation we were allowed to "dig" into many Cold Chillin artistsrecords. He photographed most pictures. All originals, never touched by a needle. George showed us also many obscure photomaterial of covers, golden Cold Chillin records and a dope painting with a handmade graffiti of Bill Blast (much money worth). It was worth it; a day Cologne! Till next time! But first together to Big Daddy in the Milky Way and the bookpresentation and expo of George (there are plans to let some Cold Chilin artists perform).

26-11-06 EPMD in the Melkweg

The last weekend of november was EPMD-weekend in the Netherlands (see the saturday below). The sunday EPMD performed in the Melkweg and Live & Legendary also visits this party. Before EPDM started, Keith Murray entertained the crowd. The performance of EPMD was full of childhoodmemories, they played the hits of wayback like 'Crossover' and 'Headbanger'. DJ Scratch showed his turntable-skillz. You can describe the evening in 2 words: it was Live and Legendary.

Live & Legendary visits the HOP-party at Panama in Amsterdam. The HOP, a unique concept where a dutch producer (this time DJ Knowhow) and a international MC (this evening EPMD and Keith Murray) record together a song. This will be put out on a record for those who were present at the party. The evenin started with a interview by Job de Wit of State-magazine. After that, DJ Knowhow presented his 3 beats he made to the crowd and crew. Almost everybody agreeded on song nr. 1. Then it was time for Erick, Parrish and Keith to make the lyrics. At the end DJ Scratch made some scratches for the record. Scratch also did the afterparty. It was a legendary night with a legendary line-up in a good atmosphere.

04-11-06 DJ Bobcat

DJ Bobcat - the legendary DJ, producer for example LL Cool J, 2Pac and Ice Cube - performed the 4ht of november with a special show in the 'Melkweg' on the Crossfadernight. The night before Bobcat was invited to Ducht radio (3voor12XL) for a interview and a performance. The next day (4 nov.) we met Dilated People, they stayed in the same hotel as we did. Then we had to solve the Serato-problem. We could solve it at the Allstar DJ Academy, we had a nice afternoon over there. The Crossfadernight was a good night. DJ Bobcat mixed a very nice set. The dancefloor wasn't empty: he was actually packed! Bobcat ended his performance by showing some oldschool-turntablist-skills. This was also the end of a legendary weekend with a very nice, friendly Bobcat.

20-07-06 Marley Marl & Craig G

Picture: ® George DuBose

With a 3 hours delay J-live, DJ FloFader and SuperNat landed on Schiphol. Quick to Zaandam, check in and chill. Soundcheck, diner and take a rest. At entry club De Kade there were only 20 people looking at Gumshoe, mad props for these 2 guys. J-Live decided to perform not on the stage but between the crowd. It became a dope night. Next day first a visit to Amsterdam headed to Apeldoorn. Checking the club, soundcheck and diner. The show started at 10 PM. Fortunaley here was some more crowd. It was a great show, J-live could sell some record and you could let sign your stuff. The next day back to the airport. 05-05-06 DJ Premier, T-kid and Cope2

Promised as here the review of the show of DJ premier. At arrival we (Deams, Omid and me made a little touristwalk: a very beautiful city! Later on we went to the club which was situated near the harbours and old stilo's. The club had a very undergroud flavour. Inside we watched T-Kid and Cope2. They ware busy with their graffiti on the wall. Got my stuff signed by the legends. In the meanwhile Deams got in a conversation with the Infamous Mobb Big Twinz. We have made plans for shows and further cooperation. At the time of 3:00 AM it was time for DJ Premier, who doesn't need further explanation for these who have ever seen him perform live. Dope show in good surroundings with many partypeople.

Petrol: we come back with artist for shows. Thanks for the unforgettable night. Also thanks 2 Deams, Omid, DJ Premier, Gordon, T-Kid, Cope2 and Big Twinz for the hookup.

29-04-06 Fresh Fest 2006 with L.O.T.U, Biz en Shantee and Kurtis Blow

Live & Legendary set off the last weekend of April to the UK to contemplate there the Fresh Fest 2006 in the Brixton Acedemy, the announcement told me a breathtaking line-up, that brought me to buy tickets. Before the complete festival will take place the line-up has been already modified, but still with funky names such as MC Shan and Big Daddy Kane which had been added too. Therefore no reason for apprehension. Once in London, hook up with some friends also from the Netherlans, and together to the Brixton Academy: what a a hall of format.
We were making us up for the Lord or the Underground, these were the first half hour certainly okay with classicals such as Funky Child, Psycho, Tic Tac, Lord Jazz etc. But afterthat they could better leave the stage. Meanwhile we got entertained with a UK DJ without name or fame, later more about him. Next time for Kurtis Blow. He was de man of the night, dope show, breakdancing at the age of 50 and rockin' and swingin' the crowd. In de meanwhile I had checked the programlist at the sounddeck and to my stupefaction no Shan and Kane on the list but De La Soul who's gonna conclude the evening, hmmmmmmmm fraud alom. Damn it, but we couldn't do much about it. No host at al made the announcement that the line-up had chanced. To make it all worser the DJ decided to full up the long waiting time between the acts with spinning bullshitrecords like Outkast. That made the crowd angry and people started to thrown bottles towards the stage. Even when Cool V came on the stage they jell boo. Biz did the same show as he did at Milkweg Amsterdam, but you could see he was tired travelling a week so the show wasn't all that. Fortunaly there was saving angel Roxanne Shante, who got the people on her side and gave the people what they came for and waited for. We didn't wait to see De La soul perform. Good afterall, because they didn't show up. Fortunaly Roxanne Shante decided to do a solo show in Holland (with Live-and-Legendary), so look forward to! We are trying to get a special guest with her, who wasn't at the Fresh Fest. Lateron more.

24-04-06 Biz Markie and Roxanne Shantee

Live & Legendary this time on the road with nobody less than The Biz Markie, Roxanne Shante and Cool V. After little delay that day by technical problems from KLM, they - and especially Biz - slouch along. At last thudded in the car and on to the hotel where the problems started just really. After firstly with the Biz the most obscure live shit for verifying on its portable Dvd-player, it became after an hour him surplus. Surplus because a hotel official to moan and he wants zat even to house. Fortunately it has come well and 45 minutes oldskool show was put down by 3 the Cold Chillin artists where some artist can take still example to. As a surprise the photographer George Dubose came (known of the Cold Chillin covers) on the set. L&L will try to set up a exposition in the Netherlands. Roxanne Shante will strike once again later this year to our country solo.

22-04-06 Tat Money

Philly did it: 22 april on the Crossfader-party special guest DJ Tat Money, known as the former DJ of Steady B, Kwame and EBS, invited to perform by Live-and-Legendary. Philidelphia is known for his good hiphopartist such as Schoolly D, Tree Times Dope, Jazzy Jeff & the Fresh Prince and Cash Money and of course Tat Money, who has even much skillz as his homies and "neighbours" Jeff and Cash. The club was packed from front till back, top to bottom.
Tat had a good public sense and gave away a very good turntablist-set with "Rock the Bells". Already discovered by Japan, now the time for Amsterdam to meet with a DJ like he has to be. Thanx Tat, for a unforgettable day!
